Liverpool evening headlines as Sergio Ramos snub explained and Alisson makes training claim

Here are the Liverpool evening headlines for Sunday, May 31.

When Harvey Elliot snubbed Sergio Ramos

Liverpool’s teenage sensation Harvey Elliott has revealed he rejected the chance to meet Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos during a visit to the Santiago Bernabeu last summer.

The La Liga giants gave Elliott and his family a tour of the club’s facilities as part of their attempts to lure him to the Spanish capital, according to The Athletic.

However, despite their interest in the London-born midfielder, he stopped short of meeting Ramos, following his infamous clash with Mo Salah in the 2018 Champions League final.

“No, it’s OK,” Elliott politely replied to the club’s offer of a meeting.

“I don’t like him after what he did to Mo Salah.”

Ramos ended Salah’s final after just half an hour in Kiev, with the Egypt international leaving the field in agony with a dislocated shoulder.

Alisson reveals training ground rivalry with Origi and Mane

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has lifted the lid on his battle to outfox his attacking teammates in training.

The Brazil international praised the commitment of Sadio Mane and Divock Origi in training but could not resist a dig at the pair, over their record against him.

“On training days, I want to beat them. Usually I beat them. I kill them in training!” he told B/R Football.

“But we do love each other, and Sadio and Divock help me to win a lot.”

Origi was quick to respond - read the full story here.

Yossi Benayoun’s pride at Liverpool hat-trick record

Former Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun has spoken of his pride at securing a unique club goalscoring record, years ahead of Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero.

The ex-Israel international racked up 134 Reds appearances after joining from West Ham United in 2007.

His ability to score vital goals is shown by his record as the only Liverpool player to net a hat-trick in the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.

“I had a few really good moments with Liverpool,” he told the LFCTV ‘Legends in Lockdown’ series.

“I was surprised to find out I was the first player to score a hat-trick in all three competitions.

“Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero joined this group a few years later, but to be the first Liverpool player to do this is very special.

“These goals were very special to me, but the most special thing was to wear the Liverpool shirt for three years.”
