Here are your Liverpool evening headlines for Thursday, January 14.
Solskjaer on Liverpool's title chances
Ahead of Manchester United's crucial trip to Anfield on Sunday, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer showed a somewhat dismissive attitude towards Liverpool and the Reds' title chances.
United moved three points clear at the top of the table with their victory over Burnley on Wednesday night. Afterwards, and in preparation for the weekend's tilt, a Sky Sports reported asked Solskjaer: "You played in title-winning teams at Manchester United. Would you assess Liverpool as a potential title winner this season?"
The United boss rather brazenly replied: "Couldn't care less," before swiftly walking out of the interview.
Liverpool will have the chance to move ahead of United with a win on Sunday with the match set to be one of the biggest contests between the two rivals in several years.
Sir Alex aura confirmed
Mark Clattenburg has confirmed the much-rumoured Sir Alex Ferguson aura that meant referees handed United the kinder edge of their decisions.
It had long been theorised that referees would bow to the pressure of refereeing a game which involved United and Ferguson, and now Clattenburg admitted that the presence of Ferguson had an impact on some decisions made.
Speaking in response to Jurgen Klopp's questioning of United's many penalties this season, the former referee told the Daily Mail: "He is wrong to suggest there is an aura around United that sees them given favourable decisions.
"There used to be when Fergie (Alex Ferguson) was there, but that has eased massively since he left.
"I am the only referee to give three penalties to the opposition at Old Trafford, and that was for Liverpool, of all teams, in 2014.
"But David Moyes was manager - I'm not sure that would have happened when Fergie was there!"
Nat Phillips' remarkable injury recovery
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has put Nat Phillips' remarkable recovery from persistent ankle injuries down to his change in diet.
Prior to his loan to Stuttgart, Phillips used to suffer from regular inflammation of his ankle. However, he since changed his diet, becoming vegan, and no longer has to deal with the persistent injury problem.
"The boys that I have spoken to that have reduced meat, they've said they feel better," said Oxlade-Chamberlain when speaking to Jordan Henderson and Xherdan Shaqiri as part of an initiative calling for supporters to go meat-free on matchdays.
"Nat Phillips, do you remember when he had his ankle injury? He had the bad ankle injury, it was swollen all the time, inflammation, inflammation. Then he said when he went to Stuttgart on loan, he cut out meat completely and went vegan for the first time ever because he'd heard about it.
"Then his ankle was fine. The inflammation went. I remember Nat saying it took three to four weeks, and then he started feeling good for it."
