Liverpool evening headlines as Kylian Mbappe makes contract decision and training ground change

Here are the Liverpool evening headlines on Saturday, January 23.

Mbappe's contract decision

Kylian Mbappe has insisted he needs to consider his long-term future before committing to a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain.

Mbappe's current deal with the Paris-based club expires in the summer of 2022 - with mass speculation over a move elswhere.

Liverpool have been linked with the France international - with supporters desperate to land one of the, if not the, hottest talents in world football.

Speaking to France 24, the 22-year-old confirmed he was still in talks with PSG over extending his stay at the Parc des Princes.

"We are in discussions with the club to try to find a suitable project," Mbappe said.

"I said I was thinking about it because I think that, if I sign, it would have to be a long-term commitment to Paris Saint-Germain.

"I am very happy here. I have always been very happy. The supporters and the club have always helped me and for that alone I will always be grateful.

Training ground alteration providing 'motivation'

James Milner has admitted that Liverpool's 'champions wall' is providing the side with "special motivation" for this season's FA Cup campaign.

The wall, which was replicated when the Reds moved from Melwood to the AXA Centre in November, has an emblem of each trophy the club has won in its history, with a number printed below of the amount of times they have been victorious in that particular competition.

Milner said that the idea of adding the number eight underneath the FA Cup is helping him and his team-mates get motivated for Sunday's clash with Manchester United.

The Reds are in the fourth round of the competition after beating Aston Villa 4-1 in the previous stage and will face their long-time rivals for the second time in seven days this weekend.

Milner told Liverpoolfc.com : "The success we’ve had over recent years, we’ve managed to change that wall at the training ground and at Anfield with the number of trophies we’ve won.

"That’s always special and a big motivation. For a club as successful as Liverpool you want to keep adding to that."

Spurs new kit gives hint to Reds

Nike could soon hand Liverpool another kit to wear after a Tottenham Hotspur strip was 'leaked' online.

Spurs, who are also sponsored by the American kit manufacturers, may be playing in a fourth kit soon after Footy Headlines ( as per football.london ) posted the retro-looking potential strip online.

The Reds are currently in their first season with Nike as the manufacturer, after ending their five-year association with New Balance at the end of the last campaign.

Now, with this potential Spurs shirt leaked, it seems that Nike are planning to introduce new kits to at least four of their key teams.

Liverpool, as well as Spurs, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain could all be in contention for a change to their strips.
