Liverpool evening headlines as Jamie Carragher demands decision and Adama Traore transfer hint

Carragher calls for Premier League decision

Sky Sports pundit and Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has urged the Premier League to announce sporting merit will be used to determine the result of the 2019-20 domestic season.

This comes after UEFA announced qualification for the 2020-21 Champions League and Europa League would be determined by sporting merit.

The Premier League have listed 8th June as a potential return date for the remaining 92 league fixtures, but that relies on the go-ahead from the government.

Liverpool remain 25 points clear atop the Premier League table, requiring just two wins to claim their first league title in 30 years.

Fowler praises Fergie and Klopp

Former Liverpool star striker Robbie Fowler has revealed the well-wishes he and his Brisbane Roar players received from various footballing personalities.

Sir Alex Ferguson and Jürgen Klopp are among those to have sent messages to Fowler ahead of his ongoing tenure as Brisbane Roar boss in the Australian A-League.

“It was incredible that these great men wanted to do that,” Fowler said.

“I think he always liked me as a player. This message he sent is my greatest memory of him,” the former Liverpool forward said of Ferguson.

Fowler gave a presentation to his players at the beginning of his maiden season in charge, including the messages of support and good luck from Klopp and Ferguson.

The A-League side are currently in fourth place.

Traoré agent on transfer links

Wolverhampton Wanderers’ winger Adama Traoré has been the subject of much transfer speculation following his explosive season at Molineux.

Liverpool have been one club linked to a move for the Mali international and the 24-year-old’s agent has addressed rumours about his future.

Rodri Baster, who represents Traoré, stated there may still be a market for his client’s services this summer, despite the changing financial situation of many top clubs.

“I can't talk about contractual situations because it's a private matter, but Adama was having a good season, and with his age, conditions and the fact he's a very appealing player, there would have been a market for him, no doubt about it,” he said in an interview with EFE.

Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp has previously described Traoré as “unplayable”, and is an admirer of his work on Wolves’ right wing during this campaign.

Similarly, Traoré has extended his praises towards Liverpool, dubbing them “the best team in Europe.”
