Liverpool evening headlines as Haaland reveals Anfield dream and Carragher recalls takeover relief

Here are the latest Liverpool evening headlines for Thursday, October 15.

Jamie Carragher recalls takeover relief 10 years on

A decade to the day since FSG completed their takeover of Liverpool, Jamie Carragher has lifted the lid on how he felt as a player at the time.

The Bootle-born defender, who was 14 years into his 17-year Anfield career at the time, has described his joy at seeing the reign of Tom Hicks and George Gillett come to an end, with more focus on that than who exactly the incoming figures were.

"I was just delighted it was all sorted," the former centre-half exclusively told the ECHO.

Blood Red: A decade in review of FSG's ownership of Liverpool

"It felt like we were in the press for about two or three years and it was just always about stuff off the pitch.

"The end of the stuff with the other American owners and obviously the stuff with Rafa Benitez.

"I can't say I expected the American owners to come and do what they have done or have the success they have had really.

"But as soon as they come in, you think, like any man on the street, is how much money have they got to spend?”

Thiago Alcantara’s arrival sees Liverpool’s squad value increase

Liverpool have the most valuable squad in world football, according to new figures released by Transfermarkt .

According to their calculations, the summer signings of Diogo Jota and Thiago Alcantara have seen the value of Jurgen Klopp’s first-team squad rise to £991.08million.

That puts them just ahead of Premier League rivals Manchester City, who are valued at £971.64m, with European giants Barcelona (£790.65m), Real Madrid (£769.5m) and Bayern Munich (£782.06m) third, fourth and fifth in the list respectively.

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are the most valuable Reds stars, each said to be worth £108m.

Erling Haaland’s Anfield “dream come true”

One of European football’s hottest properties, Borussia Dortmund’s 20-year-old striker Erling Haaland, said it was a dream come true to play at Anfield last season.

The Norwegian international, son of former Leeds United and Manchester City midfielder Alf-Inge Haaland, played against Klopp’s men for Red Bull Salzburg last season, getting on the scoresheet in a 4-3 defeat in the Champions League group stage.

Footage has emerged ( via Reddit ) of Haaland and his Salzburg team-mates training at the famous stadium the day before the game last October.

"The best team in the world.. very good fans, stadium, atmosphere, everything,” he said.

"So tonight is a dream coming true playing here."
