Good evening, Liverpool fans. Here are your evening headlines for Saturday, October 10.
Grealish makes surprise Liverpool admission
Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish has admitted he didn't expect to play in the 7-2 demolition of Liverpool last weekend due to a hamstring injury.
The midfielder struck twice in the shocking victory at Villa Park, but only after he passed a late fitness test to be included in Dean Smith's starting XI.
“It was actually a weird one,” Grealish told the Guardian . “I had a fitness test on the day of the Liverpool game (last Sunday).
“I hadn’t even trained for the two days before it because I had a sore hamstring. I didn’t expect to play the way I did.
“(It) doesn’t come around often in your life as a footballer, it was crazy.”
Beane in talks over FSG investment
The principal owners of Liverpool, Fenway Sports Group, are reportedly in talks with Moneyball mogul Billy Beane, who is looking to invest in a sports franchise.
Alongside banker Gerry Cardinale, Beane has revealed that they have raised $575million, and it has been reported that FSG have entered into discussions regarding a potential deal.
Per the Wall Street Journal , RedBall Acquisition Corp., which is headed up by Beane, plans to raise a further $1 billion in funds to purchase a 25% share of FSG, which would value the company at around $8 billion.
FSG have been open to making a minority stake available to outside investors, although they insist that they have no plans to sell the club.
Oxlade-Chamberlain unhappy with FIFA rating
Liverpool players have discovered how they rate on FIFA 21 following the release of the full game. And some are less happy than others.
Full-back pair Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson revealed the ratings to the squad in a video posted on the club’s official Twitter account.
Virgil van Dijk was ecstatic with his 90 rating, the highest of any defender, while Jordan Henderson moved from an 83 to an 86, though he questioned why he was an 83 to begin with.
Alexander-Arnold and Robertson both came out at 87, with the former ranking higher in passing and the latter in defending, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was the most upset.
“I think I'm the only man who has gone down in the squad,” he said after being presented with his 79 rating. “Fourth highest goalscorer from midfield - gone down. My pace has gone down every year - makes no sense. I'm the lowest-rated man in this building.”
Then, holding his FIFA card, he said: “Where's the bin?”
