Here are the Liverpool evening headlines on Monday, December 28.
Wijnaldum makes contract request
Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has asked the club for more time to decide on whether or not he will sign a new contract at Anfield.
That's according to the Mirror, who are reporting that Wijnaldum - who is currently in the last season of his deal with the Reds - still needs more time to make a definitive decision on the club's latest contract offer.
Jurgen Klopp is reportedly keen to keep hold of the 30-year-old midfielder, whose latest contract offer was tabled at the start of December.
The Holland international has promised Liverpool that he will inform them on any decision before he starts talking to other clubs - if that's what is eventually decided.
Klopp explains Matip injury
Klopp has opened up on how Liverpool are having to nurse defender Joel Matip through multiple injuries he has already suffered this season.
Matip has missed nearly half of the Reds' matches in the Premier League so far this season, with his most recent injury coming in Sunday's 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion.
The Cameroon international suffered a suspected adductor problem, the latest in a long line of injuries for the central defender.
Klopp has now spoken about the 29-year-old's latest worry, as he explained to liverpoolfc.com about how they have coped with his injury problems this season.
"It's like a 'wandering' injury," he said. "He had a problem with his ankle, but could play on. He then got a back problem.
"Everybody knows he was limping from time to time and then he got a back problem (because of it). We worked on that, on both (injuries), and now he has an adductor (injury)."

Messi's transfer comments sends Salah message
Liverpool star Mo Salah refused to rule out a future move to Barcelona recently, and Lionel Messi's latest comments may have just sent the Egyptian a message.
Recently, Salah did not dismiss a move to either Real Madrid or Barca in the future, when interviewed by Diario AS, and the comments reached England - enough to worry some Reds supporters.
Now, Messi - who was heavily linked with a move away from Ronald Koeman's side over the summer - has hinted at a switch to the MLS soon, which could have a bearing on Salah's situation at Anfield.
The Argentine said : "I'm going to wait until the season ends. I would like to play in the United States and experience life and the league there, but ultimately come back to Barcelona in some capacity.
“Right now the most important thing is to focus on the team and finish the season well, to focus on trying to win trophies and not get distracted by other things.”
