Liverpool and Man United Project Big Picture proposal ‘rejected’

Project Big Picture has dominated English football this week, as major changes are proposed for

the game.

However Premier League clubs have reportedly rejected the plans and vowed to hold an urgent strategy meeting.

Critics described the situation as a ‘power grab’ from a select group of top clubs, with the EFL said to be on board.

Liverpool boss ‘almost choked’ as Cristiano Ronaldo joined Manchester United after Reds agreed deal

Liverpool came close to signing Cristiano Ronaldo before he eventually joined Manchester United, it has been revealed.

The Portuguese international was on the books of Sporting when the Reds took an interest in him, and Phil Thompson spoke to The Athletic about the potential deal.

“I can still remember Tony’s exact words. It was all very nice and relaxed,” he said. “It’s £4 million, and it can be paid over the four years of his contract, so £1 million a year.

“That seemed very reasonable. Then I asked about the salary and Tony told me it was £1 million a year, net.”
