Bayern boss on Thiago future
Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick has provided an update on what the future might hold for Thiago Alcantara amid speculation that the midfielder is set to join Liverpool this summer.
The Spaniard was integral to Bayern's victory over Paris Saint-Germain in Sunday’s Champions League final with many suggestions that it could prove to be his final game for the Bavarian club as Liverpool plot a move.
“He told me that he would stay [at Bayern],” Flick playfully responded when asked after full time before laughing and revealing what he truly told the midfielder.
“No, I just thanked him. Just like I did every other player. I don't know [where his future lies], he doesn't know himself yet. Because we all focused on this Champions League final.
"We'll have to wait and see what happens in the following days.
Cendon trains with first-team squad
Young Spanish goalkeeper Javi Cendon is training with Liverpool as the Premier League champions run the rule over the 19-year-old.
Cendon has been part of Liverpool’s pre-season training camp in Austria ahead of the 2020/21 Premier campaign, with Jurgen Klopp and his coaching staff taking a closer look at the shot-stopper.
The goalkeeper has been without a club since leaving Villarreal at the end of last season and has been invited to training the with Reds as they prepare for the forthcoming campaign.
It is understood Liverpool have been encouraged by Cendon’s work in training and he will remain with the first team when they return to Melwood ahead of the weekend's Community Shield.
Former Red says signs point towards Thiago arrival
Dietmar Hamann believes all the signs point to Thiago making a move from Bayern Munich to Liverpool this summer.
The Spanish midfielder has been heavily linked with a switch to Anfield and Hamann thinks the player’s contract situation shows he is intent on joining the Premier League champions.
“It looks like he's been offered a contract in Munich which he turned down,” said the former Liverpool player (via TalkSport ).
“He obviously must have shown an interest in staying otherwise they wouldn't have offered him a new contract.
“But at the last minute, he pulled out and said he might want to do something else. I'd be very surprised if he turns down a contract for Bayern Munich if he hasn't got anything else so I am sure he's got an offer from Liverpool now.
"It is probably about the transfer fee now.”
