Liverpool evening headlines as Bayern make Thiago claim and new keeper signs

Here are your Liverpool evening headlines for Sunday, September 13th

Mbappe gives 'transfer request'

Kylian Mbappe has reportedly told Paris Saint-Germain that he will leave the club at the end of the 2020/21 season.

According to the Times , the French World Cup winner, who signed for PSG in 2018 in the second-most expensive transfer in history, wants to move to either the Premier League or La Liga.

Mbappe has previously spoken extremely positively about Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp.

“This season Liverpool have been a machine in the Premier League. They have made winning look easy - but the truth is that is never easy,” he said in January .

“To be as ruthless as they have been would come from having a very good manager and lots of hard work in training. Performances like they have been having don't just happen.”

Thiago “blackmail” accusation

Amid rumoured interest from Liverpool and Manchester United throughout the summer, Uli Hoeness has claimed that the English pair are attempting to “blackmail” Bayern Munich into selling Thiago Alcantara on the cheap.

Thiago has a year remaining on his contract and is refusing to sign a new one. Liverpool have been widely tipped to sign the Spanish international as they look to bolster their central midfield options, especially with Georginio Wijnaldum also having just one year remaining on his deal.

The club indicated earlier this summer that Thiago was not an active target - but it remains to be seen if the situation develops.

However, the Reds are now being criticised for an alleged delayed pursuit of the Bayern star.

“We offered him a great four-year contract but in the last minute, he changed his mind and told us he wants a new challenge,” former Bayern chief Hoeness told Sport1 via Sports Mole .

“He probably has an agreement with Liverpool or Manchester United, or with both. Both clubs have not come to us with an offer.

“They are bluffing and want to blackmail us by waiting until the last week and then make a cheap offer. Bayern must decide whether they want to play this game or stand their ground and keep Thiago.”

£1million goalkeeper deal agreed

Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Fluminese goalkeeper, Marcelo Pitaluga. The 17-year-old bid goodbye to his teammates earlier this week ahead of the Merseyside transfer.

He will now complete his medical, with Liverpool expecting to formalise and complete the deal this week. Fluminese reportedly have a 25% sell-on clause, as well as a further £800,000 in add-on clauses

“I am very grateful to Fluminense,” said Pitaluga. “I was 10 years at this club, from futsal, passing through [the youth ranks], until I reached the professional ranks.

“I have always been treated very well and had all the assistance necessary for my development, both personally and as an athlete.”
