Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane locked in another fierce battle for top award

After sharing the Premier League golden boot last season, Liverpool striking duo Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are battling it out for the Africa Cup of Nations golden boot.

Both goalscorers have notched up two goals in the competition so far, and will be looking to add to their respective tallies as the round-of-16 gets underway this weekend.

The Egyptian talisman scored a stunning strike against DR Congo and followed that up with a pinpoint free-kick against Uganda in the Pharaohs' final Group A clash.

Meanwhile, Senegalese stalwart Mane broke his duck in the Lions of Teranga's crucial showdown against Kenya.

The 27-year-old missed a penalty in the first-half but bounced back to strike twice in the latter stages of the match as Senegal reserved their spot in the knockout stages.

Mane's Senegal will do battle with Uganda on Friday night, while Salah's Egypt face South Africa on Saturday evening.

The pair, who were joint top scorers in last season's Premier League on 22 goals apiece, will be looking to take pole position in the race for the golden boot.
