Liverpool dressing room message revealed as Adam Lallana explains ongoing 'addiction'

Adam Lallana has revealed the message given to Liverpool's players ahead of the showdown with Everton - and admits he felt he was "babysitting" many of his team-mates.

Lallana was an outstanding performer in Sunday's 1-0 FA Cup third round victory at Anfield, assuming the captain's armband after James Milner retired hurt after only nine minutes.

The 31-year-old was one of nine changes made by Klopp for the fixture after a busy festive period.

But despite Liverpool starting with two debutants and three teenagers - both numbers increasing when Yasser Larouci replaced the stricken Milner - Lallana explained the mindset was no different to any other game this season.

"We came into this game, and the message beforehand was 'expect to win'," he said.

"I couldn't care less about the average age of the team or how many young lads were out there - we expected to win.

"I know how good the young lads are, they train with us day in, day out. It's just about living and breathing that mentality and the winning culture we have here at the minute.

"It was no surprise we came out with a win.

Blood Red: Jurgen Klopp asked about Adam Lallana's future

"I was one of the oldest, but I felt one of the fittest out there. I felt like I could have kept going.

"I was almost babysitting at times it felt like with the young lads out there."

Liverpool have now won 15 of their last 17 games in all competitions, with Lallana having featured in each of the last six.

And the midfielder, speaking to Viasport Fotball, added: "When you win, I've said it before, it becomes like an addiction. You want to win every game.

"We are in the FA Cup for one reason - to win it. The manager said he picked a team that he thought was likely to win the game, and that's happened.

"We look forward to the draw and who we play next."
