Liverpool deserve credit for sniffing out top talent like Mohamed Salah says Arsene Wenger

Liverpool have been praised for the way they sniff out top talents as Arsene Wenger hailed Mohamed Salah's development into one of the world's best players while at Anfield.

With two games to go in this season's Premier League, the Reds have already picked up a point more than Wenger's 'Invincibles' who in 2004 became the first unbeaten side to be crowned English champions since Preston North End in the Football League's inaugural season in 1888/89.

Wenger was renowned for trying to develop his own talent 'in house' than always rely on big-money signings.

Barcelona are worried about Liverpool referee - and this is why

Salah – whose 32 goals won him the Golden Boot last term in his first season with Liverpool is now leading the Premier League scoring charts again on 21 goals with two games remaining of the current campaign.

The Reds picked up Salah from Roma for what now seems like the relatively bargain fee of less than £37million and Wenger, who managed Arsenal for over 21 years before departing the Gunners at the end of last season, has been hugely-impressed with how Jurgen Klopp has cultivated such talents.

Virgil van Dijk could be Liverpool's greatest defender ever - proving FSG's transfer decision right

He told BeIN sports: “Mohamed Salah is a fantastic player. He blossomed at Liverpool after being already very good at Roma .

“He is a sensational player. He fell a little bit after the World Cup until the past few weeks, he managed to come back to his best and he is one of the best players in the world right now.

“You have to give credit to Liverpool, with many clubs on the market and be able to sniff a player like him, shows that they did very well.”
