Liverpool demand eye-watering fee for ex-Cardiff City midfielder Marko Grujic amid Atletico links - reports

Liverpool are reportedly ready to let Marko Grujic move on this summer, but only if they receive a mega-money bid.

The former Cardiff City loanee has spent the season at Hertha Berlin, where he's been in impressive form and has caught the eye of several big clubs from across Europe.

Atletico Madrid are the latest club to be linked, with Diego Simeone allegedly identifying the Serb as a potential replacement for Manchester City target Rodri.

Liverpool star Marko Grujic's phone call to Cardiff City's Neil Warnock and the warning he has for Jurgen Klopp

According to ESPN , Liverpool are ready to move Grujic on in the summer, but only if their valuation of around £35 million is met.

Grujic only signed a new contract at Anfield last summer, but has made just eight appearances for the Reds since arriving in 2016.

His crucial contribution to Cardiff's promotion to the Premier League made him a huge hit in South Wales last season, with boss Neil Warnock even making an attempt to re-sign him before he departed for the German capital.

Warnock would eventually go on to secure loan deals for Harry Arter and Victor Camarasa to strengthen his midfield options, with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp believed to have been instrumental in the 23-year old's move to the Bundesliga.

Having scored four goals in 19 appearances, Hertha head coach Pal Dardai recently described Grujic as the club's "best midfielder in 20 years", and his glowing displays will have only further emboldened Liverpool in demanding such a massive fee for his services.

But despite interest from all over Europe, the player himself has said that he would ideally like to stay in the Bundesliga.

The truth behind Marko Grujic's failed loan from Liverpool to Cardiff City — what actually happened

“I feel very comfortable in Berlin. Hertha gave me a great opportunity to play in the Bundesliga,” Grujic told Bild.

“I’m still pretty young, for me this time at Hertha – with the exception of injuries – has been brilliant so far to show my qualities.

“But, ultimately, I cannot decide. But, if I could choose myself, I would stay with Hertha for another year, or maybe even two years, to make a very good name for myself by improving all my qualities. And that’s only possible if you play every game.”
