Liverpool defender signs new long-term contract after taking next step

James Norris has become the latest Liverpool youngster to commit his future to the club.

The 18-year-old left-back, who signed his first professional contract last year, has put pen to paper on a long-term deal.

Norris was a regular in the Reds side that reached the FA Youth Cup final last season where they were beaten 2-1 at Aston Villa.

He has this season made the step up to the under-23 squad, and started on the left of midfield for Barry Lewtas's team in Saturday's 1-1 Premier League 2 draw against Brighton at Kirkby.

Norris, who was born in West Derby, has been at the Academy since U9 level and has represented England in a number of age groups.

Has earned his first call up for the U19s for the forthcoming games against Italy and Germany.

The teenager became the fourth-youngest player to feature for Liverpool's first team when, aged 16 years eight months and 13 days, he came off the bench in the 5-0 League Cup quarter-final defeat at Aston Villa in December 2019.
