Liverpool defender potentially scuppers Celtic hopes of securing Boli Bolingoli exit

Boli Bolingoli's move to Amiens may be off after the French side signed Liverpool left-back Adam Lewis.

The England Youth international has signed a one-year loan deal, strengthening the Ligue 2 team in Bolingoli's position.

The Celtic defender is believed to have been a target for Amiens, with reports suggesting a loan deal could be agreed with an option to buy him for £2.3m at the end of the season.

Bolingoli faces the possibility of a lengthy ban after he flew to Spain without informing Celtic, failed to isolate upon returning to Glasgow and came on as a substitute in the 1-1 draw between Neil Lennon's men and Kilmarnock at Rugby Park earlier this month.

Lewis arriving from Liverpool may have made the chances of a move to Amiens less likely, but it remains unlikely that Bolingoli will return to the fold at Celtic Park.

Reacting last week to the news of Bolingoli's breach, Lennon said: “We have been bitterly let down by an individual. I didn’t want to hear his excuse. He has blatantly disregarded our instructions.

“There’s anger and disappointment from the squad. It’s just simply not good enough and it’s disrupted our plans.

“This is a rogue who has gone off tangent and has done something very very selfish. We have been completely oblivious to this. I’m absolutely livid. It’s a total betrayal of our trust.”
