Liverpool defender Joel Matip in line to face Man Utd after resuming full training

Joel Matip will be available for Liverpool's trip to Manchester United on Sunday after resuming full training on Tuesday.

The defender has been sidelined since sustaining a knock during the Reds' hard-fought 1-0 win over Sheffield United on September 28.

Though not serious, the issue caused Matip to miss back-to-back Anfield wins over RB Salzburg and Leicester City prior to the international break.

Jurgen Klopp turned to Joe Gomez for the first of those fixtures and watched on as his team conceded three times en route to a thrilling 4-3 victory.

Dejan Lovren subsequently got the nod for the visit of the Foxes, helping largely limit the visitors' attack in a 2-1 win.

But both men could miss out at Old Trafford this weekend, with Matip now in contention to reclaim his place alongside Virgil van Dijk.

The 28-year-old has been Klopp's first-choice partner for his immovable Dutchman at the heart of the defence so far this season.

Liverpool's backline is also set to be boosted by the return of goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who is back in full training after overcoming a calf injury.

His stand-in, summer signing Adrian San Miguel, is expected to step aside on Sunday after impressing in the early stages of the season.
