Liverpool defender Joe Gomez on the music artist he would like to do a song about him

Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has revealed how he would like to be in one of Stormzy's songs.

The defender is currently away on international duty with England where he took part in an interview with Chris Stark on BBC Radio One on Monday afternoon.

And when asked during the interview which music artist he would like to do a song about about him the former Charlton man had no hesitation when replying.

"Obviously Stormzy is massive at the minute. I'm a big fan of what he does and his music," the 22-year-old replied.

"If you can get in a Stormzy lyric then I think you are doing well."

But when presenter Stark informed the centre-back that the artist was a Manchester United fan, Gomez still remained unmoved from his original answer.

"Yeah, but I suppose in a general sense it would be nice," he replied.

"I know Yungen, Yungen to be fair is a Liverpool fan so I've probably got slightly more chance."

Gomez has so far found playing time hard to come by this season, with Joel Matip being preferred to the youngster to partner Virgil van Dijk at the heart of the Reds defence.

Liverpool currently sit eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table and return to action against Manchester United this weekend.
