Liverpool defender Andy Robertson gives verdict on Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo debate

Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson has named the best player he has ever faced.

Robertson arrived at Anfield from relegated Hull City on July 21, 2017, as the Reds struck a deal with the Tigers to land the left-back for around £8million.

It was a move that saw Kevin Stewart head in the opposite direction and Robertson has proven to be one of the best bargain buys in years at Anfield.

Since his arrival at the club, the Reds have become Premier League and Champions League winners, with Robertson establishing himself as one of the best left-backs in world football.

“Pretty easy to answer this one....the best player I have played against would be Lionel Messi,” the Scottish international replied when asked on TikTok who is the best opponent he has faced.

“I think it was an incredible two games against Barcelona and you always have to second guess what the magician is doing.

“So hard to play against, always have to be at 100% concentration. A pleasure to play against him and he’s definitely the best I’ve played against.”

While in the same Q&A Robertson also revealed who he would rather live with out of Trent Alexander-Arnold and James Milner.

He said: "Not much options there but I think I would need to go for Trent.

"The idea of me getting up at 6.30am to do press-ups and sit-ups with James Milner does not appeal to me whatsoever."
