Liverpool defender Adam Lewis agrees departure after loan move cut short

Liverpool defender Adam Lewis will spend the rest of the season on loan at League One side Plymouth Argyle.

Lewis will make the move, subject to international clearance, having had his loan spell at French side Amiens cut short earlier this month.

The 21-year-old had moved to the Ligue 2 side on a season-long agreement last summer with Liverpool keen for the player to gain further first-team experience.

Lewis started the first six games of the campaign and was then on the bench for the next four, emerging for three brief cameos.

But the left-back wasn't involved in a single matchday squad since playing 64 minutes in the 2-1 defeat at Auxerre on November 7.

After a total of nine appearances, an agreement was reached for Lewis to return to Anfield this week.

And now the youngster - who joined Liverpool's Academy at under-6 level and captained the U18s under Steven Gerrard - will spend the rest of the campaign at Plymouth, who currently stand 15th in League One.

Lewis was absent for four months last season due to knee ligament damage, but was fit enough to make his senior debut when featuring for the full 90 minutes in the 1-0 FA Cup fourth round replay win over Shrewsbury Town last February.

He signed a new long-term contract at Liverpool in July before making his temporary move to Amiens.
