Liverpool dealt Naby Keita injury blow in Champions League clash vs Barcelona

Liverpool have been left sweating on the fitness of midfielder Naby Keita after he was forced off with injury against Barcelona .

Keita was tackled from behind by Ivan Rakitic and appeared to suffer a groin injury which caused him to be replaced by Jordan Henderson after just 20 minutes.

A cart was brought onto the field to take off Keita, although he eventually limped off accompanied by the Liverpool physios.

Keita has become a crucial figure for Jurgen Klopp's side in recent weeks and his injury will leave them sweating over his availability entering the business end of the season.

Barcelona will head to Anfield for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final clash next Tuesday, whilst the Reds are still battling with Manchester City for the Premier League title.

Keita made his long-awaited move to Anfield from RB Leipzig for a fee of more than £50m in the summer and has impressed over the second half of the season.

He struggled to make an impact initially but has become an increasingly key player in Klopp's midfield trio.

Roberto Firmino was also left out of Liverpool's starting line-up as a precaution (Action Images via Reuters)

Liverpool fans furious with Sadio Mane for not appealing for penalty vs Barcelona

Liverpool were also without Roberto Firmino in their starting line-up at the Camp Nou.

Klopp made a late decision on the fitness of the Brazilian striker after he suffered a muscle injury in training last week.

Although he was not risked from the start, he was fit enough to take his place on the bench and his injury does not appear to be a great concern.
