Liverpool dealt Kylian Mbappe transfer blow as expert reveals why move won't happen

A French football ‘expert’ has outlined the reasons why Liverpool will not sign Kylian Mbappe this summer.

The Reds have been tentatively linked with a move for the World Cup winning forward for several months, but still remains with Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.

After signing for the French club from Monaco in 2018 in a €180m deal, Mbappe has been repeatedly linked with Liverpool and Real Madrid this season while Jurgen Klopp tried to sign the World Cup winner earlier in his career.

Earlier this week, a former European Parliament member, Daniel Cohn-Bendit, claimed Mbappe’s transfer value been tipped to plummet to just £35m as football continues it's suspension caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Reports this season have suggested he would cost upwards of £250m, but French football expert Cyril Morin has outlined two reasons why Mbappe will not be moving to Anfield anytime soon.

Morin reckons Klopp’s style of play, as well as Mbappe’s relatively young age, are the main reasons why the 21-year-old will not be making the switch to Merseyside in the near future.

"There are two main reasons that Liverpool and Mbappe can’t fit together," Morin told Eurosport.

He added: "Firstly, Klopp’s philosophy. For me, Mbappe isn’t mature enough to assume the gegenpressing.

“He’s still a young striker in terms of intensity and defensive effort, and I’m not sure he is mature enough to sign for Liverpool where you have to be part of the team, not one among 11.”
