Liverpool dealt Jordan Henderson problem ahead of Premier League clash at Leicester

Jurgen Klopp faces a dilemma over what to do with Jordan Henderson at Leicester after Fabinho was ruled out of Saturday's clash.

The Brazilian has arguably become the most important figure at Anfield this season as he has filled in at centre-back in the absences of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.

Fabinho's displays in defence have largely been impeccable, as he has shown that he is able to play just as well as he does in his usual position of defensive midfield.

Henderson has been forced to join him at the back of late due to the injury issues experienced by Matip, who like Van Dijk and Gomez is now out for the rest of the season.

The Reds skipper started at the back in the defeat at Southampton in early January, and has been unable to revert to his usual midfield position ever since as injury issues have mounted up.

Klopp would have hoped to at least have the option of playing one of Henderson or Fabinho in midfield at the King Power Stadium, with the other likely to partner one of the new arrivals Ozan Kabak or Ben Davies at the back.

But Fabinho's problem means Henderson could be needed in defence again, partnering one of the new signings or centre-back Nat Phillips.

On Fabinho, Klopp said: “Fab will not be available. He suffered again a little muscle issue, so will be out for this game.”

Perhaps more concerning for Liverpool was the fact that the Reds manager was unable to confirm whether or not the Brazilian will be back for the forthcoming matches against RB Leipzig and Everton.

The Reds face the Bundesliga side in the last-16 of the Champions League in Budapest on Tuesday, before the Merseyside derby at Anfield next Saturday evening.
