Liverpool dealt fresh injury blow as James Milner limps out of Everton clash

Jurgen Klopp has been dealt a fresh injury blow after James Milner was forced out of Liverpool's clash with Everton .

The German boss made nine changes for the FA Cup third round tie at Anfield, with Milner and Joe Gomez the only survivors from the side that beat Sheffield United last time out.

However, Milner lasted just eight minutes after he limped out of the action with a suspected hamstring problem.

Teenager Yasser Larouci came on in his place for his Liverpool first-team debut, leaving Klopp with even more injury worries as his side fight it out on three fronts.

Liverpool's new signing Takumi Minamino and Nat Phillips were handed their debuts, while Klopp picked teenagers Neco Williams, Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones in an understrength side.

"People have told me already I wouldn't respect the cup. It's not true. But my first job is to respect the players," said Klopp ahead of the game.

"I've got to decide if it's allowed to play them again. It looks like federations around want to make it more tricky.

"How can you look at a situation like Newcastle - losing four players in one game - and not think 'This is crazy'."
