Liverpool court jobs you can apply for right now

If you fancy a responsible job where no two days are the same, the position of court clerk may be just what you are looking for.

HM Courts and Tribunal Service currently has three full time, permanent vacancies for court clerks based at Liverpool Crown Court - one of the busiest court buildings in the country.

Successful candidates may also be required to clerk at other crown courts within Cheshire and Merseyside.

The court clerk is the person who sits at the front of the court. Typically the first thing you will hear them say is "Court, stand!" when the judge enters the courtroom.

The duties of the clerk include preparing the laptops and screens that are used to present evidence during the trial.

They also read the formal charges to the court and take oaths from members of the jury, as well as make notes during the trial.

The job advert goes into more details about the key responsibilities of the role, in terms of administration and other duties.

These reveal that successful candidates will need to be highly organised and efficient, and comfortable with the technology used in courtrooms.

As a court clerk, you will also be the first point of contact and will act in a kind of PA role for the judge who is hearing the case.

But you will also be communicating with the public, juries, the judiciary, other court and tribunal users and representatives of other agencies and organisations.

The job advert also states that the "post holder is required to work in a flexible way and undertake any other duties reasonably requested by line management which are commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post."

The salary is from £22,566 to £26,901, along with other benefits such as a civil service pension and annual leave.

The closing date for applications is the end of Friday, March 5.
