Liverpool Council Local Election results 2019 - as they happen

Voting is taking place on Thursday for the Liverpool City Council local elections 2019 - and the results will be coming in through the night.

We will be bringing you all the results and reaction as soon as we get it on what could be a really interesting night for the future of Liverpool.

Labour has dominated the authority since sweeping into power in 2010 - with Joe Anderson holding the position of city mayor since 2012.

But at this election, the Liberal Democrats are hoping to add to the three gains they made on Labour last year and bolster their numbers on the opposition benches.

Labour will retain control of the council whatever happens, but will be concerned about holding on to seats in southern Liverpool

seats like Woolton, Childwall and Mossley Hill.

Labour will also face a real battle to keep their seat in Tuebrook and Stoneycroft, with the Liberal Party hoping to make it three out of three in the ward.

You can follow our live coverage of the entire night's proceedings with us.

And our live election results tool will show the results as they come in.
