Liverpool could be without key man for Tottenham test as Jurgen Klopp dealt injury blow

Liverpool are set to be without Diogo Jota for the game against Tottenham and potentially for around two months.

The former Wolves forward sustained a knock in midweek in the Champions League clash with FC Midtjylland, with the Portugal international substituted after 87 minutes of the game.

He is now set to miss the Reds' clash with Fulham today, with Liverpool set to carry out tests on the severity of the knee injury, according to the Liverpool Echo.

However, it has been suggested that Jota is facing up to two months on the sidelines, with Portuguese publication Record reporting that he will be out until the new year and is set to miss several matches, including the game against Spurs.

Liverpool have not yet confirmed the extent of the injury, but Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is expected to provide an update when he faces the media at Craven Cottage later today.

But a two-month lay-off for Jota would be a significant blow for the Premier League champions, with the 24-year-old one of the form players for Liverpool in recent weeks.

Since his summer switch from Wolves, Jota has scored eight goals in 17 appearances for the Reds, becoming a key man for Klopp as Liverpool have maintained good form domestically and in Europe, sitting second in the Premier League level on points with Spurs.

Following the game against Fulham, Liverpool welcome Tottenham to Anfield on Wednesday, before facing Crystal Palace, West Brom and Newcastle before the end of the year.

Liverpool are also set to face Tottenham in the Premier League in north London on January 27, and if Jota is out for two months, he could also miss that game.
