Liverpool: Conor Bradley set for long-awaited comeback at Leeds as Arne Slot reveals new knock

Arne Slot has confirmed that Conor Bradley will be named in the Liverpool squad for Saturday’s visit to Leeds.

The Reds’ recent struggles, which have seen the Premier League champions win just three of their last nine matches, have not been helped by the absence of the club’s first-choice right-backs.

Bradley has been sidelined since picking up a muscular injury on international duty in November, while Jeremie Frimpong has been out with a hamstring injury since October.

The Northern Irishman returned to training this week, though, and Slot has confirmed that he is in contention to make his return to the pitch at Elland Road.

“Bradley has trained this week, so he will train today and will be in the squad tomorrow,” he said.

There was a worrying update for another defender, though, as Slot revealed Joe Gomez is currently playing through a knock. He sustained the injury in Sunday’s 2-0 win at West Ham, but played through the pain to complete 65 minutes of Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Sunderland on Wednesday.

Slot explained: “Joe Gomez got a knock at West Ham but started. He will train today, yesterday was a recovery day. Let's see where they are.”

Previewing the meeting with Leeds, who produced a humbling 3-1 defeat of Chelsea in midweek and were narrowly beaten by Man City at the weekend, Slot added: “Yesterday, I look at Leeds vs Chelsea and I saw a Liverpool game: Chelsea conceding a set piece and then a big, big error.

“Leeds went very aggressive in one-v-one and then a low block to stop chances. It is difficult for us that style, and many other teams.

“We saw them coming back from two down to Man City. Foden made the difference with a moment of magic there and against Chelsea Leeds were very strong. What to expect is what we have faced in many other games."
