Liverpool confirmed team news for Salzburg friendly as trio remain absent

Jurgen Klopp has named a strong starting lineup as Liverpool are hosted by Red Bull Salzburg this afternoon.

Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane are all picked to start as the Reds play their second friendly of a truncated pre-season schedule in Austria.

Naby Keita is selected in the midfield alongside Gini Wijnaldum and Fabinho, while Neco Williams deputises at right-back for Trent Alexander-Arnold who remained at home with a minor injury when the Premier League champions flew out to their training camp earlier this month.

Joe Gomez partners Virgil van Dijk at centre-half with Andy Robertson named ahead of new signing Kostas Tsimikas at left-back. Alisson Becker completes the lineup in goal.

A packed bench for the Reds sees the likes of Takumi Minamino, James Milner and Rhian Brewster all named with Klopp likely to rotate heavily for the meeting with Jesse Marsch's side.

Young defender Billy Koumetio is also included alongside fellow defender Ki-Jana Hoever and Sepp van den Berg.

Divock Origi, Xherdan Shaqiri and Loris Karius who all missed Saturday's win over Stuttgart with what were thought to be minor injury concerns are all absent from the squad again,

Liverpool played their hosts twice last season in the group stages of the Champions League, winning 4-3 at Anfield before wrapping up qualification with a 2-0 win in Salzburg on December 10.

Liverpool: Alisson; Williams, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabimho, Wijnaldum, Keita; Mane, Salah, Firmino.

Subs: Adrian, Kelleher, Milner, Grujic, Jones, Minamino, Tsimikas, Brewster, Phillips, Hoever, Elliott, Van den Berg, Koumetio
