Liverpool confirm two pre-season friendlies including Champions League opponents

Liverpool are to play two friendly matches against Stuttgart and RB Salzburg as they continue preparations for the upcoming Premier League season out in Austria.

Jurgen Klopp's side will play Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart on Saturday, August 22 at 5pm before taking on Austrian champions Salzburg on Tuesday, August 25, at 3pm.

Fans may know that Stuttgart is Klopp's boyhood club and he will no doubt relish setting up his Premier League champions to face them.

Liverpool have only played Stuttgart once before in a friendly match in August 1980 and they met Salzburg in the Champions League group stages last season where Liverpool won 4-3 at Anfield and 2-0 away from home.

Takumi Minamino lined up for the Austrian Bundesliga side against Klopp's men but made the transfer to Anfield in January and so will now line-up against his old club.

That match is set to take place in the Red Bull Arena.

You can follow both games live on the Liverpool ECHO website as we will be providing a full match live blog for each game.
