Liverpool confirm new contract for striker

Liverpool have confirmed that young striker Fidel O’Rourke has signed a new contract at the club.

O’Rourke, who plays as a striker for the club’s Under-23 side, has put pen to paper on a new long-term deal with the club.

Having initially signed for the Reds at Under-14 level, the 20-year-old has progressed through the ranks to now play for Barry Lewtas’ Under-23s.

He signed his first professional contract in 2020, and it was extended for the first time in May last year. The length of his new contract has not been stated by the club.

Growing up on Merseyside, O’Rourke is a boyhood Liverpool fan and has also captained the club’s Under-18 side. He was part of the young Reds team that would the FA Youth Cup in 2019.

So far this season, O’Rourke has eight appearances in Premier League 2 and scored his first goal of the campaign in the 7-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur last month.
