Liverpool confirm Harvey Elliott signing as teenage winger goes straight into squad for Napoli friendly

Liverpool have completed the signing of teenage winger Harvey Elliot from Fulham.

The 16-year-old will be part of the squad for Sunday's friendly against Napoli at Murrayfield before joining his new team-mates for a pre-season training camp in Evian, France.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig were among the other high-profile clubs believed to be chasing Elliott, who became the Premier League's youngest-ever debutant when he appeared for relegated Fulham against Wolves aged 16 years and 30 days in May.

The England Under-17 international made three senior appearances in total for Fulham after rising through the youth ranks.

Elliott, born in 2003, became the club's youngest player when he made his debut at Millwall in the Carabao Cup last September when he was just 15 years and 174 days old.

However, Fulham were unable to convince him to sign a scholarship and he now heads to Anfield to become Liverpool's second signing of the summer following last month's addition of 17-year-old centre-back Sepp van den Berg from PEC Zwolle for an initial £1.3m.

Players under the age of 17 are unable to sign professional contracts per Fifa regulations and a compensation package will now have to be worked out between Liverpool and Fulham.
