Liverpool confirm four departures and new contract offers in retained list

Liverpool have confirmed the departure of four academy players but there was no mention of Gini Wijnaldum when announcing their Premier League retained list after the 2020/21 season.

The Dutchman is the most high-profile Red out of contract this summer, alongside goalkeeper Adrian, and is expected to leave the club and join Barcelona at the end of his current deal.

Meanwhile, Adrian's future also remains up in the air with recent reports suggesting he could be set to sign a new one-year contract.

But despite both coming to the ends of their current deals, Liverpool have not officially released the senior duo when announcing their Premier League retained list on their official website.

The Reds did confirm the exit of four academy players, however, with Liam Coyle, Joe Hardy, Abdi Sharif and Jack Walls are set to leave the Reds upon the expiry of their contracts this summer.

From the quartet, only Hardy made an appearance for the Reds senior team with the striker featuring against Shrewsbury Town as a late substitute in the FA Cup back in February 2020.

Meanwhile, Liverpool also confirmed they have offered new contracts to both Yasser Larouci, who featured twice in 2019/20, and Remi Savage, though the former is still expected to leave the club when his current deal expires.
