Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva will be commemorated with a number of tributes ahead of Liverpool's pre-season friendly with Preston North End on Sunday.

Jota, 28, and Silva, 25, died last week in a car accident in the Spanish region of Zamora.

There had been conversations about whether the game would go ahead, but Liverpool have decided to fulfil the fixture.

Ahead of kick-off, there will be a rendition of the Liverpool anthem, You’ll Never Walk Alone, and Preston will lay a wreath alongside the away supporters.

A minute’s silence will be observed, and digital tributes will be displayed on the screen and across pitchside LEDs. Both sets of players will wear black armbands.

Preston have also created a commemorative edition of the matchday programme that features written tributes to the brothers.

Liverpool returned to pre-season training on Tuesday, having postponed the start date in the wake of Jota's tragic death.

Liverpool's new signings, Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, Giorgi Mamardashvili and Milos Kerkez reported to training at the club's Melwood base this week alongside a number of first-team players and could feature against Preston.

Sunday's game, Liverpool's first pre-season friendly, will take place at 3pm at Preston's Deepdale stadium and will be broadcast live on ITV1.

The Reds will play FA Cup winners Crystal Palace in the Community Shield on August 10, after facing AC Milan in Hong Kong and J1 League side Yokohama in Japan at the end of July.

Many of Liverpool's players attended the brothers' funerals in Gondomar, Portugal, last Saturday.

Father of three Jota, who married his long-term partner Rute Cardoso 11 days before the accident, died alongside his brother after a Lamborghini they were travelling in burst into flames following a suspected tyre blowout in the early hours of Thursday, July 3.

Reds manager Arne Slot attended last Saturday's funeral, along with club captain Virgil van Dijk and team-mates including Andy Robertson, Conor Bradley, Ryan Gravenberch, Cody Gakpo, Curtis Jones, Darwin Nunez and Joe Gomez.
