Liverpool comedian Jimmy Tarbuck today revealed he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain, the 80-year-old made a passionate plea to viewers to visit the doctors to get checked out.
He urged men to get checked and said: "Boys, go, it is embarrassing but go."
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK and according to the NHS, 40,000 new cases are diagnosed each year.
Jimmy went on to say singer Tom Jones had been his "mentor" during the diagnosis, offering him advice on the process of the tests and giving him support.
Host Kate Garraway asked: "But how are you, are you okay?"
The comedian explained that he is currently undergoing treatment including "injections and taking tablets" and added his cancer has not spread.
He also said his doctor said: "You won't die of prostate cancer, but you might die with it."
Jimmy will still be going on tour to celebrate his 80th birthday.
