Chelsea hosted Burnely and despite all of the chances created and their shot consistency, they only managed the one goal from Kai Havertz which was then met with an equalizer from Matej Vydra.
I think I may have cracked the code. Every time Chelsea drops points… Liverpool drops points.
It’s extremely uncanny.
We may need to re-evaluate who our title rivals ours too. I mean, now that Manchester United are currently crumbling, it may be that West Ham could be the dark horse in the title race.
Maybe we can even add Arsenal to the mix? - Just kidding. Let’s wait a few more weeks.
Ole Gunnar Solskjær knows how to steer a sinking ship. He has done it several times before. Whenever his job is at risk, he finds his way back into the good graces of the Man United fanbase. He manages to survive somehow.
I honestly thought it would be the same old story over the weekend… But it wasn’t.
After a 3-0 win against Tottenham and a Cristiano Ronaldo Champions League masterclass, the Red Devils fumbled once again. They hosted Manchester City who dominated in the Old Trafford stadium.
When you deep it, Manchester United have now conceded 7 goals against their fiercest rivals in 2 consecutive home matches. Just let that sink in. They didn’t get a single goal in front of their home crowd either.
All jokes aside, the right manager can still turn their season around. It may be too late to compete with the mighty Chels for that top spot but a top-four finish should not be out of reach.
It’s funny how the table has literally turned. You take a look at the League table and can see Arsenal creeping up in Chelsea’s rearview mirror. They are now above Manchester United who is now three points behind in 6th. It may be time to swap them in?
No, too premature; but West Ham currently sits third and they are on my radar.
Liverpool gifted the Hammers with a win on Sunday evening. Pure happiness to hear that the Reds could not take advantage of our misfortune once again. They also broke their unbeaten streak in the Premier League which made a lot of Arsenal fans overjoyed (expectedly).
An Alisson own goal to open the score sheet, a blunder by the same man gave West Ham their second goal, and an Alisson oversight to allow agent Kurt Zouma to close out the match. It's almost as if Alisson may have had a terrible match.
I find it hilarious that David Moyes called Liverpool the best team in the World following an unconvincing loss. - I mean, are they one of the best in the world 100% but can we call them THE best when Chelsea is sitting right there?
He took to the press after the match and said,
“If you look at them (Liverpool) at the moment, without going over the top, it would be hard to pick a better team in the world at the moment.”
News flash Moyes, Chelsea sit at the top of the table and had no problems stealing a point from Liverpool with just 10 men.
It was an entertaining weekend for the neutrals. Manchester City fans can hold their heads high knowing that they have beaten a struggling Manchester United side. Liverpool fans can also enjoy the kind words from the manager who took three points from them.
I can enjoy going into the international break at the top of the table, for the second time this season. The fixtures are getting tougher. Injuries are beginning to dictate the way the results may swing this season, not just for Chelsea but for Liverpool also.
it's going to be an interesting battle once we come back from the break. I will say this though, Liverpool do have the best player in the world currently, and I'm sure he will be coming back recharged and ready to drag the Reds closer to the Blues as soon as he can.
