Liverpool coach signs new deal after Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur links

Liverpool throw-in coach Thomas Gronnemark has extended his association with the Premier League champions.

Gronnemark has been employed on a freelance basis by the Reds for almost two years having been appointed by Jurgen Klopp.

While suspicion has been raised elsewhere, not least by former Sky Sports pundit Andy Gray, the Dane's work has been lauded by the Reds boss and several of his players.

Gronnemark caused a minor stir earlier this year with comments during an interview with German football magazine Kicker in which he admitted he was unsure where his next role would be.

"I don't know, maybe I'll be with Tottenham or Manchester United next year, as I'm not tied down as a freelancer," he said. “I’m just not allowed to be a direct competitor in any one season, that’s my rule."

However, Gronnemark has now ended speculation over his future by confirming a new agreement with Liverpool.

"I'm happy and proud to announce that I have signed a new contract with Liverpool FC for the 20/21 season," he tweeted.

"I'm a freelance throw-in coach, and there is great interest from other clubs at the moment. Looking forward to help more teams with 'The Long, Fast and Clever Throw-in'."

Gronnemark later clarified he will be able to coach other Premier League clubs next season, but none of Liverpool's top-six rivals.
