Liverpool coach clarifies comments after Tottenham and Manchester United hint

Liverpool throw-in coach Thomas Gronnemark has clarified his comments over a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur or Manchester United in the summer.

It was seen as a left-field move when Jurgen Klopp appointed him at Anfield in August 2018, but since his appointment the Reds have won the Champions League, beating Spurs in the final at the end of last season.

They are also 25 points clear at the top of the table and were well on their way to winning their first Premier League title before the season was suspended at the start of last month.

Speaking to Kicker, Gronnemark mentioned two possible destinations for next season.

Rob Guest's full Tottenham Q&A

"I don’t know, maybe I’ll be with Tottenham or Manchester United next year, as I’m not tied down as a freelancer,” he said, as reported by Sport Witness.

"I’m just not allowed to be a direct competitor in any one season, that’s my rule. That’s why I have already turned down a top offer from England this season.”

But now the coach has taken to social media to explain his comments further.

“Just to put everything straight! I'm a freelancer. I make new contracts every summer,” he wrote on his Twitter account.

“The mentioned clubs are just random to explain my position as a freelancer.

“I'm very happy at Liverpool FC. Let's see what the future brings. Stay safe.”

Gronnemark is the holder of the World record for the longest ever throw, recording a distance of 51.33m.
