Liverpool City Region records a drop in covid infections

There has been a decrease in positive covid infections in the Liverpool City Region.

According to the latest data from Public Health England, the City Region recorded 7,216 cases in the week ending July 21, which is 374 fewer cases than in the previous week.

This means the week on week percentage change decreased by 5%, and the latest infection rate is 423.79 cases per 100,000 people.

In individual areas of the city region, three recorded decreases in positive tests, and three recorded increases.

Liverpool, Sefton and Wirral had decreases. Wirral recorded the biggest percentage change week on week decrease of 11%.

Knowsley, St Helens and Halton had increases. Halton recorded the biggest percentage change week on week increase of 14%.

Just beyond the city region, Warrington, Cheshire West and Chester, and West Lancs recorded increases in positive tests.

In England, positive tests increased. In the week ending July 21, England recorded 280,929 coronavirus cases, which is 40,577 more cases than in the previous seven days.

Liverpool

Liverpool's positive tests came to 2,258 cases in the week ending July 21, which is 196 fewer cases than in the previous week. This meant the week-on-week percentage change decreased by 8%.

The latest infection rate was 453.4 cases per 100,000 people.

Sefton

In Sefton, there were 1,201 cases in the week ending July 21, which is 130 fewer cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change decreased by 10%.

The latest infection rate was 434.5 per 100,000 people.

Wirral

There were 1,455 positive tests in the week ending July 21, which is 178 fewer cases than in the previous week. Wirral 's week-on-week percentage change decreased by 11%. The latest infection rate was 449.1 cases per 100,000 people.

Halton

There were 571 positive tests over the last week, which is 68 more cases than in the previous week.

This means the week-on-week percentage change increased by 14% in the week ending July 21. The latest infection rate is 441.2 cases per 100,000 people.

St Helens

There were 958 positive tests in the week ending July 21, which is 48 more cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate was 530.5 cases per 100,000 people. The week-on-week percentage change in St Helens increased by 5%.

Knowsley

There was a total of 773 cases in the week ending July 21, which is 14 more cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 512.4 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases increased by 2% week on week.

Liverpool City Region

There were 7,216 positive tests over in the week ending July 21, which is 374 fewer cases than in the previous week.

This means the week on week percentage change decreased by 5%. The latest infection rate is 423.79 cases per 100,000 people.

West Lancs

West Lancashire recorded 614 coronavirus cases in the week ending July 21, which is 90 more cases than in the previous seven days.

There was an infection rate of 537.15 per 100,000 people, and there was a week on week percentage increase of 17% in infections.

Warrington

There were 1,254 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending July 21, which is 119 more cases than the previous week.

The week on week percentage figure increased by 11%. There was an infection rate of 597.11 per 100,000 people.

Cheshire West and Chester

There were 1,540 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending July 21, which is 89 more cases than the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 448.89 cases per 100,000 people, and there was a week on week percentage increase of 6% in cases.

England

In England in the week ending July 21, there was an infection rate of 499.10 per 100,000 people.

The nation recorded 280,929 coronavirus cases, which is 40,577 more cases than in the previous seven days.

There was a week on week percentage increase of 17% in cases.
