Liverpool city centre Lidl confirms store is closing from this weekend

A Lidl store in Liverpool's city centre is closing its doors this weekend for a number of months.

Liverpool’s London Road store is set to undergo a huge refurbishment in the coming weeks, which will see the arrival of a new in-store bakery, an extension of the entrance and enhanced staff wellness facilities.

In order for the store to undergo refurbishment works, the store will close its doors from 4pm on Sunday, December 19 - and will remain closed until at least February 2022.

The refurbishment forms part of the company’s ongoing £1.3bn investment across the country in 2021 and 2022.

Staff currently working at the London Road supermarket will be reassigned to nearby Lidl stores until work is complete.

Stuart Jardine, Lidl GB’s regional head of Property, said: “We’re pleased to be able to refurbish our London road store in Liverpool, so that we may deliver an even greater shopping experience in store and bring our much-loved bakery to the local community.

“We would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while we undertake these improvement works.”

Customers can continue to have access to the supermarket's products at nearby Lidl stores on Lime Street and in Kensington.
