Liverpool city centre cafe to close after 'two beautiful and very intense years'

A popular Italian cafe and bistro in Liverpool have said they will close their doors later this week to "embark on a new and exciting adventure".

Carmine’s Italian Cafe & Deli, located on Sefton Street in the Baltic Triangle, announced on its social media channels it would be shutting for good on Sunday. The popular venue opened in May 2021 and has had a loyal customer base, with many expressing their sadness and well wishes for the future.

Carmine's offers a wide selection of Italian dishes, including ham and scamorza paninis, romana pizzas and tiramisu, as well as coffee. It also operated as a bar by night.

Signed by owners Enzo and Arianna, the Instagram and Facebook statement said: "Carmine's is open all weekend and will close its doors for good, on Sunday 29th of January. We are about to embark on a new and exciting adventure that will take us away from our beloved Liverpool and we are left with no other option but closing doors.

"No sad note and no rant about how tough the hospitality industry is these days. Life is hard no matter the sector. On the contrary, we just wanted to say thank you all. Nothing more.

"Thank you for your support, your smiles, your sadness, your complaints and your compliments, thank you for being an integral part of our lives for two beautiful and very intense years."

Many rushed to express their sadness and well wishes to Enzo and Arianna. Kieran Molyneux, who made his name playing in front of thousands at Boss nights alongside Jamie Webster, commented: "Good luck to you both, I will be in to see you before you go."

One customer said: "I want to thank you for your stellar scran and friendship. Best of luck in your new ventures. I’m sure you will smash it." Another added: "Your business has been a breath of fresh air for the area. Its a shame that it is to end. But we whole heartedly ,wish you all the health, happiness, and success for the future."
