Liverpool city centre bar closing after seven years due to coronavirus pandemic

A Liverpool city centre bar is closing after seven years after being "battered" by the coronavirus pandemic.

The owner of bar Some Place based on Seel Street took to the its Facebook page to confirm the news in a post where he also thanked staff.

The post was shared by owner Scott Burgess who said both Some Place and The Zanzibar Club had been "battered" to the "point of closure" by covid-19.

The post said: "To all family and friends of Some Place. Over the years, Some Place hasn't been a bar but a meeting point for people of every persuasion.

"We have prided ourselves on welcoming people in with a big smile and a drop of insanity. We have had a ride over the past 7 years and unfortunately this time has come to an end.

"Covid-19 has battered us and The Zanzibar Club to the point of closure. Hopefully The Green Fairy will make an appearance near you soon, keep your eyes peeled.

"We would like to thank all of our staff and all of our patrons, a lot of whom we now call friends. You have been the corner stone of Some Place and we are forever in your debt. Here is to all the memories, whether hazy or not.

"Scott Burgess & The Some Place Team."

Last week it was announced The Zanzibar Club would be closing its doors after 30 years in business due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Confirming the news, Scott Burgess who is also the director of The Zanzibar Club, described the coronavirus pandemic as “a massive kick in the teeth for everyone” and said that due to wear and tear on the venue it is in a “financially unattainable position to reopen”.
