Liverpool chasing £350k Championship goalkeeper; Derby County lead race for sought-after free transfer; Middlesbrough eye up Solskjaer-type appointment

The Championship season is reaching its conclusion and things are quickly being decided at both ends of the table.

Whether it’s teams chasing promotion to the promised land of the Premier League, or those battling for survival, there are already plans being put in place to make sure next season is even better than the one that is about to finish.

Without further ado, here are the Championship rumours for March 31.

We begin our journey at Liverpool. No they haven’t been demoted, but they are chasing a Championship starlet for their academy. Ben Winterbottom, a prospect with Blackburn Rovers, has been the subject of a bid from Liverpool and according to Football Insider the two clubs have now agreed a compensation package for the player.

The news site reports that the Reds have agreed a £350,000 figure with the Championship club for the goalkeeper.

Football Insider also has the inside scoop on Graeme Shinnie’s potential move south to the Championship. The new site claims that Derby County are leading the chase to sign Rangers target Shinnie on a free transfer from Aberdeen.

The 27-year-old left-back, has yet to agree a new deal at Aberdeen and the left-back, who can also play in midfield, is expected to depart the club in the summer.

Frank Lampard is planning for a full-back arrival, but one departure could also be coming this summer. Jayden Bogle has been attracting the interest of Premier League Burnley, but Lampard has slapped a £7 million price tag on the defender. Bogle has established himself as Derby's first-choice right-back this season, making almost 40 appearances in all competitions for Frank Lampard's promotion-chasing Rams and The Sun claim they are eager to keep him.

Middlesbrough struggled to a one-nil defeat on Saturday evening and it would seem the winds of change are starting to blow through the club. Steve Gibson has already lined up his successor according to The Sun. Jonathan Woodgate, a local lad and former Boro defender, is seen as the man to inject some life into the football club.

It is thought he could have a Solskjaer like impact on things as Boro try desperately to get back to the Premier League.

And finally, we end where we started with Blackburn Rovers. The club are said to be chasing a Motherwell star according to the Daily Record. The former Sunderland youngster arrived at the club after a spell in Romanian football and has thrived since the turn of the year. The report claims the likes of Wigan Athletic, Blackburn and Millwall will watch him against Aberdeen in midweek
