Liverpool CEO Peter Moore compares Jurgen Klopp to Bill Shankly after Premier League title win

Liverpool CEO Peter Moore believes Jurgen Klopp was ‘made’ to manage the club after guiding them to their first league title in 30-years.

The Reds ended their long wait to be crowned Premier League champions after Manchester City's 2-1 loss at Chelsea last month.

Liverpool then beat Chelsea 5-3 last night to sign off from their season at Anfield in style before lifting their first league crown since 1990 in a special ceremony.

The special ceremony featured Sir Kenny Dalglish giving the Reds’ stars their medals on the Kop before for the fourth time in fewer than 14 months, Jordan Henderson assumed trophy-lifting duties, surrounded by his teammates and fan banners on the famous stand.

And Moore, speaking a day on from the ceremony, has given the German the ultimate compliment by comparing him to the club’s legendary boss Bill Shankly.

He told talkSPORT : “Shankly came in 1959 and soon thereafter said: ‘I was made for Liverpool and Liverpool was made for me’. I think Jurgen can probably say the same thing.

“He’s a leader of men, charismatic, a brilliant tactician and coach, the players adore him, he has been absolutely superb not just on the pitch for the 90 minutes but seven days a week in leading this club.

“He has given the city and the global fanbase something to look forward to after a 30 years of being so close and nearly there and we didn’t quite make it.

“Last night you could see it on his face, you could see what it means to him. Jurgen has been magnificent.

“And for those who don’t have the pleasure of knowing him, let me tell you that what you see is what you get. There’s no facade, this is a brilliant leader and somebody we cherish.”
