Liverpool centre-back pecking order may have changed as Sky Sports error spotted

Here is your Liverpool digest for Monday, March 1.

Liverpool's new CB pecking order?

Ian Doyle writes: A much-needed victory for Liverpool in Sheffield arrested a run of four successive top-flight defeats and breathed new life into their spluttering top-four challenge.

Appropriate, too, that the breakthrough came from a strike cooked up by the two homegrown talents in Jurgen Klopp’s side.

However, the performance of Nat Phillips at the heart of defence made light of the absence of both the Brazilian and Jordan Henderson, who has joined a lengthy injury list for at least the next six weeks.

Dominant in the air, resolute defensively and demonstrating the right character, Phillips now has a strong claim to be Liverpool’s chief starting centre-back between now and the end of the season.

Plenty to think about for Klopp - especially with Chelsea on the horizon.

Sky makes Adrian error

Liverpool supporters have been reacting to a repeated commentary mistake during their side’s 2-0 win over Sheffield United.

The Reds returned to winning ways at Bramall Lane thanks to goals from Curtis Jones and a deflected Roberto Firmino strike - which will go down as an own goal.

It was much better from the champions as they’ve stopped their four-match domestic losing streak, against the Premier League’s bottom side.

The first-half consisted of an array of chances for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

But Aaron Ramsdale put in an inspired performance to keep the visitors at bay in Sheffield.

However, Jones broke the deadlock after some good work from Trent Alexander-Arnold on 48 minutes before an own goal ensured the three points later on.

Alisson was understandably absent from the Reds’ side after his father tragically died earlier in the week.

Adrian took his place in goal, with Caoimhin Kelleher still unavailable for selection.

But the Sky Sports commentator couldn’t get to grips with it - and repeatedly named 'Alisson' as the Reds keeper during play.
