Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson substituted with injury vs Everton

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has added to Jurgen Klopp's injury woes after pulling up against Everton.

The Reds skipper suffered what appeared to be a muscle injury as he tried to race away from Abdoulaye Doucoure shortly before the half-hour mark at Anfield.

Henderson initially tried to play on but was forced to come off for Nat Phillips to take his place alongside Ozan Kabak in defence.

Phillips and Kabak have become Liverpool's 14th different centre-half pairing of the Premier League campaign, a statistic that underlines the chronic and crippling problems Klopp has had to wrestle with this term.

Henderson will be assessed by Liverpool's medical staff ahead of next Sunday's trip to Sheffield United.

Liverpool are also without Joel Matip, Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez at centre-half while midfielder Fabinho, who has been forced to play the majority of the season as a defender, is also currently sidelined.
