Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson responds to Raheem Sterling 'mean' claim

Following remarks from Raheem Sterling that Jordan Henderson was “one of the meanest guys” when playing, the Liverpool captain has admitted "I am a totally different person” on the pitch.

Both Henderson and his former Liverpool team-mate Sterling, now of Manchester City, were awarded MBEs in the Queen’s birthday honours list – for services to charity and race equality work respectively – but the Reds skipper concurs with the assessment of his England colleague regarding his ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ nature once he crosses that white line.

Sterling claimed that the Reds midfielder is “the nicest guy” away from the pitch, but on the field of play, he is “one of the meanest guys.”

In reply, HITC quote Henderson as telling The Lion’s Den on YouTube: “To be honest, I can imagine not too many people like us on the pitch.

“Or players that have played against us. They probably think I am a totally different person.

“So, I am not sure whether or not I am one of the nicest off it, definitely not.

“But I suppose, I am very different off the pitch to what I am like on the pitch.

“So, if you know us as a person then I would be very different to what people would imagine.”
