Liverpool café hit by negative TripAdvisor review over toilet ban speaks out

Greenbank Park’s The Watering Can café hit back against one customer’s latest Trip Advisor review earlier this week because it was ‘unjustified’.

The reviewer claimed that the café “refused point blank” to allow themselves and their children to use the toilet facilities.

Now the café has spoken out again about the issue. Speaking to the ECHO, co-owner Keith Perryman said: “We are very accommodating to the use of our toilet facilities to none customers who check in with us at reception.

“On this occasion we had a large number of unsupervised school children running in and out filling balloons and water pistols, which caused a health and safety issue with wet floors.

“Due to this we stopped unsupervised children from entering the building.

“If the supervisors of the children had asked if they could use the facility we would have obliged given they were being monitored by their adults and staff.

“The comments from Mr Brooks have now been retracted as this was a misunderstanding.”

Since The Watering Can spoke out about the negative review, the café has received a tremendous amount of support on Facebook.

Ian Balmforth said: “They’ve invested a fortune in this business, the place looks fabulous and every time I’ve been there the service food and welcome have all been excellent.

“To give someone’s business a one star rating because they had the audacity to not give you something for nothing is just pathetic frankly.”

Janine Alison Hancock said: “It’s a cafe, a business, not a public convenience”.

Elle Jackson said: “Negative Trip Advisor reviews are detrimental to a business.

“We should be supporting local businesses not trying to ruin them.

“If the food’s dire or the service poor then fair enough but this review is out of order”.

Earlier this week the café, which only opened in April this year, was trashed by thieves who caused thousands of pounds worth of damage trying to break into the safe.
