Liverpool bypass Bobby Duncan's agent Saif Rubie as Fiorentina transfer deal approaches

Bobby Duncan's agent Saif Rubie has not been directly involved in the transfer which will see the youngster join Fiorentina from Liverpool.

The Reds have agreed a €2million deal with the Serie A side for Duncan following an extraordinary outburst from Rubie last week.

Duncan's representative made a string of allegations against Liverpool and sporting director Michael Edwards, including one claim the 18-year-old was being held at the club against his will.

The statement, which was briefly endorsed by Duncan on social media, came just days after Liverpool rejected an offer from Fiorentina to take the player on a season-long loan with an option of a £1.5m deal.

Liverpool, though, have wasted no time in moving the player on following last week's controversy, with the Reds having also negotiated a 20% sell-on clause as part of the imminent transfer.

And it is believed the club did not deal directly with Rubie during negotiations.

Instead, it is understood Rob Segal, Duncan's registered agent for the transfer that was completed from Manchester City to Liverpool last season, helped broker the deal.

Duncan was in Italy on Monday afternoon undergoing a medal before completing his transfer, where he was accompanied by Rubie.
