Liverpool brilliance rolled back years to Nottingham Forest's European Cup glory

Watching Liverpool beat Barcelona in the Champions League inevitably took me back to playing at Anfield in the European Cup.

Liverpool were brilliant on Tuesday night as they came back from 3-0 down after the first leg to win 4-3 on aggregate.

It was a different story when Nottingham Forest went there in 1978 and drew 0-0 to go through 2-0 on aggregate when we were the underdogs.

People talk about the atmosphere on European nights at Anfield and it is special, but one reason why we were successful with that great team was the fact we treated every game the same.

It didn't matter whether it was Liverpool in the European Cup, or Scunthorpe in the League Cup, we had the same attitude and the same tactics.

It's possible that Barcelona were a bit arrogant. They looked like they thought they would get a goal and then Liverpool would need five.

They were a bit sure of themselves. Liverpool were ferocious in their work rate though.

They weren't nasty, but they worked so hard. It just shows that if you work hard you give yourself a chance, no matter what level you are playing at.
